Board change announced by Association of Security Consultants

AFTER NEARLY two years of dedicated service as a director of the Association of Security Consultants (ASC), Rick Mounfield CSyP FSyI is to step down from his role on the Board to pursue a new venture.

Mounfield has been instrumental in helping the ASC to realise many of its key goals during his tenure, leading on the largest CONSEC to date in 2024, growing the Association’s business groups into industry-leading seminars and spearheading the launch of the ASC’s newsletter ‘The Sentinel’. His professionalism, expertise and dedication have been greatly valued by colleagues and members alike.

As Mounfield now undertakes a new professional endeavour with the launch of Consult Europe, in parallel with his ongoing directorship at the Optimal Risk Group, stepping down from his ASC responsibilities avoids any potential conflict of interest, while allowing him to remain actively involved and contribute to the Association in other ways.

Importantly, Mounfield retains his role as a strong advocate for – and keen supporter of – the Association and its mission. He will continue to play a valuable part in its future. This includes chairing the upcoming Summer Seminar on 24 September and CONSEC 2025, which runs on 23 October 2025 and ensures continuity and ongoing support for the Association’s work.

With stronger foundations and well-established plans to maintain consistent delivery, the Association will continue to provide high-quality knowledge-sharing initiatives and opportunities for its members.

Significant contribution

ASC chair Gary Thomas said: “Rick has made a significant contribution during his time as a director, strengthening the ASC’s profile, encouraging collaboration across the industry and supporting the professional development of our members. The Board and myself wish him every success with his new venture and we’re extremely pleased that he will remain closely involved with the Association.”

Leadership changes are a natural part of any growing organisation. This latest transition reflects both Mounfield’s and the ASC’s shared commitment to strong governance and serving the best interests of members.

Speaking about the transition, Mounfield observed: “It has been a privilege to serve as a director of the ASC. As I take on this journey with Consult Europe, I remain fully committed to supporting the Association and its members and look forward to contributing to the Association’s ongoing success in new ways.”

Trusted network

The ASC is the UK’s professional membership body for independent security consultants. Established over 30 years ago, the organisation realises a trusted network of experienced and accredited specialists delivering independent and expert advice across all areas of security risk and resilience.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the ASC exists to give a voice to security consultants, drive industry Best Practice and support the development of the next generation of professionals.

Members benefit from national and international influence, professional recognition and access to quality events, conferences, networking opportunities and a programme of Continuing Professional Development.

The ASC actively nurtures emerging talent by engaging with students and early career professionals in the world of independent consultancy. The organisation also celebrates outstanding contributions to the profession through its annual awards, which recognise innovation, impact and excellence across the sector.
