PHILIP INGRAM MBE (PI) caught up with Alex Asnovich (AA), the Vice President, Global Marketing and Communications, with the Avigilon Corporation to find out why Avigilon is a founding partner for The Security Event and how Alex sees the market developing.
(PI) What is it about The Security Event that made you decide you wanted to be a founding partner?
(AA) This opportunity will allow us to engage with our partners and customers across the UK and in Europe, on the exciting new technologies we will be showcasing. We are also planning to utilise the event as a launch pad for our most anticipated products of the year and that is why we are delighted to be one of the founding partners of The Security Event.
(PI) What exciting technologies do you see coming in the next few years and where are Avigilon’s priorities?
(AA) At Avigilon, we believe that deep learning artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to solve some of the most critical challenges our industry faces today. Through the power of AI, we are developing technologies and products that dramatically increase the effectiveness of security systems by focusing human attention on what matters most.
The continued evolution of AI will provide security personnel with even more powerful tools not just for forensic purposes, but for real time event response. Powerful new tools are being created that will allow us to modify our approach to video search to help solve critical challenges facing the security industry. With AI, we can deliver true actionable results, real-time alerts and automation, so that we are no longer constrained by our attention spans.
(PI) What are you showcasing at this years Security Event?
(AA) At this year’s Security Event, we are excited to be showcasing some of our most advanced video, artificial intelligence, video analytics and access control solutions..Avigilon will be demonstrating how its latest technologies are redefining how customers consume data to help them gain actionable information.
Through the power of cutting-edge video analytics and AI, Avigilon believes that its new products and technologies can help customers verify potentially critical events and act faster. On display at Hall 10 - SE142 will be the launch of Avigilon’s latest video management software and a preview of the future of its flagship camera line, featuring its most advanced video analytics to date.
Avigilon will also be joined by Motorola Solutions to demonstrate how their solutions help customers proactively keep people safe and assets protected. Together, they will be showcasing how the integration of Avigilon’s video management software with Motorola Solutions’ suite of software provides an unparalleled solution for the rapidly evolving needs of public safety.
(PI) Analytics is the fastest growth area for surveillance systems. Can you explain the Avigilon self-learning analytics offering? What is next in Analytics?
(AA) Avigilon’s video analytics solutions are designed to solve real-world challenges and change the way we interact with our surveillance system by helping detect, verify and act on critical events. Avigilon’s self-learning video analytics technology detect the movement of people and vehicles of interest and alert operators to potentially critical events that may need further investigation, helping them take decisive action.
Tools like Avigilon Appearance Search™ technology — a sophisticated deep learning AI video search engine that provides security operators with the ability to quickly locate a specific person or vehicle of interest across an entire site. Also, technologies like Avigilon Unusual Motion (UMD) continuously learn what typical activity in a scene looks like and then detect and flag unusual motion, adding a new level of automation to surveillance.
Avigilon’s LPR system enables customers to create and import multiple vehicle license plate watch lists for instant alarm notification to security operators when a license plate match is detected. The system automatically reads license plate information from vehicles, linking it to live and recorded video, enabling operators to search and quickly find captured license plate video for verification and investigation.
The Avigilon Artificial Intelligence Appliance (AI Appliance) adds patented self-learning video analytics and Avigilon Appearance Search technology to nearly any IP camera. When connected to Avigilon Control Center (ACC) software, customers can evolve legacy camera systems into powerful AI solutions — with automatic alerts of potentially critical events and the ability to search for and locate a person or vehicle of interest across an entire site.
(PI) Given the importance of cloud storage and data transmission, how critical is the cyber environment to the surveillance industry?
(AA) As technology advances, the world is becoming increasingly connected, changing the way users think about and interact with security systems, which continue to evolve across all verticals and applications. With this change comes new opportunity for security integrators; security systems are advancing, creating new needs for products and services — some of which can be met through the adoption of cloud-based service systems. Traditionally, serving more sites required integrators to hire more technicians to meet the needs of their growing customer base, but the cloud has helped overcome this demand. While the functionalities of each system vary, their potential is evident in the cloud-based service platforms that are available today.
The Avigilon Blue™ platform, for example, is a secure end-to-end solution that enables security integrators address the needs of their customer sites using fewer resources by offering the ability to administer system upgrades, fixes, health checks, and camera or system settings adjustments remotely. Powered by Microsoft Azure, Avigilon Blue leverages cloud services that are built, deployed, and managed through a global network of trusted data-centers, providing customers with enterprise-grade security and global scale.
