Job Purpose

Pro-actively lead and manage the complete warehouse and logistics operation at the Stevenage site, ensuring Group Business Unit specific needs and requirements are understood and met. Manage and control procurement and delivery of site stock, tools, work wear and hire equipment to meet project requirements. Develop and manage an agile, efficient and competent warehouse and logistics team that embraces ‘Customer 1st’, ‘Safety 1st’ and ‘One-Team’ ethos whilst supporting Company values including a culture of delivering with passion and continually striving for excellence.

Key Areas of Responsibility 

  • Procure the best hire rates for group of companies and meetings with suppliers to ensure the performance levels are met.
  • Liaise with project managers and directors of security management for stock control.
  • Control all of the waste management documentation and on-site skips and all scrap material returned from all sites sourced to a third party.
  • Ensure all lifting equipment including forklifts are tested to the correct certification annually.
  • Manage warehouse / logistics team, utilising the skill sets within the team to maximise performance within the different business sectors supported.
  • Sign off of all invoices relating to suppliers and liaising with suppliers on queries etc.
  • Look after the current pool vehicles at Stevenage and communicate with the asset Manager at HQ on collection of vehicles and vehicles for sale within the group.
  • Purchase and control all company work wear for the GB group.
  • Attend various internal meetings including being a health and safety rep for the site.
  • Purchase all the groups plant including power tools and site boxes and non-mechanical plant and other fleeted equipment ensuring the best price is procured and setting the internal hire rates.
  • Keep up with all of the current legislations regarding pat testing and on-site equipment and IPAF regulations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other senior management to ensure best practices are met.
  • Create new processes (where applicable) and manage existing ones to a high standard ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Coach and mentor the team members to develop a ‘one-team’ ethic including regular meetings.
  • Liaise with the Group Health and Safety Manager to introduce new PPE within the group as per site requests.
  • Control of the yard and car park area ensuring that all walkaways and the general condition of the area is maintained to a standard and liaising with the group Facilities Manager.

Other Details

  • You should have previous experience in a similar role. Someone from a tool hire / rental background who may have wider warehouse experienced as opposed to a traditional ‘warehouse manager’ would also be desirable.
  • Currently there are 3 direct reports.
  • Typically full time in the office, however, scope / flexibility to work from home if task allows.
  • Use own bespoke ‘stores’ package which is currently undergoing significant update via IT. Other systems knowledge required would be excel, word, emails.
  • Hours are 7am – 4pm.
