Applications are invited for the role of University Fire Officer at the University of Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire officer to influence and make a valued contribution to the University’s fire safety. The University has a variety of historic and modern buildings. Its teaching and research provide an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills across a diverse range of fire topics.
The University Occupational Health & Safety Office is an essential function within Human Resources and plays a key role in ensuring our cutting-edge research and teaching is conducted safely. As the University Fire Officer, you will be part of a friendly team of advisers and support staff in the Safety Office, providing health and safety support and guidance to all sectors of the University. It does not cover individual colleges, but you will be expected to work closely with the Oxford Colleges Fire Safety Adviser to share and develop best practice across the collegiate University.
About you
The University Fire Officer will need to communicate with individuals across the University, including research supervisors and, where appropriate, the heads of department. However, the ability to communicate with the whole range of employees, contractors, visitors, and students on University premises, as well as external agencies, is essential.
The post holder is expected to be fully conversant with current fire legislation and relevant codes of practice, British Standards and building regulations (all Purpose Groups). The post holder also needs full knowledge of the fire safety requirements for persons with reduced mobility and sensory disabilities.

Salary
Grade 9: £50,300 - £58,284 per annum
