Business Development Manager - Scotland - Security Division

You will report into the Sales Director as a Business Development Manager. Your role is responsible for the acquisition of new regional customers for a fire and security integrator, primarily within Scotland. The role will be responsible for devising your own business development strategy in line with the organisation’s growth strategy across targeted market sectors.

The purpose of the New Business Development Manager is to focus on new business hunting and new key account acquisition to accelerate the growth of our electronic security installation and service portfolio.

You will mainly focus development on key market sectors, including critical national infrastructure, utilities, distribution centres, health care, education and defence, acting as an ambassador to position the company’s reputation as a leading and respected employer.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet their sales target objectives (£770k install, £80k new service contracts per annum).
  • Work closely with the Sales Director to agree and pursue new business targets and priorities.
  • Identify commercial and contractual issues associated with new business attainment.
  • Maintain focus on new business and work effectively with other internal departments to ensure all newly secured work is handed on in accordance with processes and procedures.
  • Provide regular reports identifying activity, targets and prospects etc.
  • Maximise the value of the company’s existing internal resources (marketing, technical and commercial) to support the achievement of target objectives.
  • Represent the business in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Support best practice health and safety in so far as the Sales Manager position enables.
  • Develop an appropriate level of understanding of industry equipment and standards.
  • Be a part of the sales team and participate in all management meetings when required; undertake other duties as considered necessary.
  • Escalate significant risks/opportunities to the Sales Director.

Required Experience:

  • You must have a security industry background with a minimum of 5-years’ commercial experience. Strong technical and commercial skills are essential.
  • You must be a good team player who enjoys multi-tasking and interaction with customers and colleagues.
  • Personality: self- driven, multi-tasking, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality, profitability and professionalism. A natural problem solver with a keen ability to prioritise and work with people to achieve excellent business outcomes.
  • Personal situation: ambition is key to the role. The position requires drive and focus and offers a route into higher management within the company based upon the establishment of effective and productive internal and external relationships.
  • Specific job skills: possess good interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication and an open and positive demeanour. Must have a good awareness of industry codes and standards and be suited to work within the guidelines and processes as set out by the company.
  • Computer skills: must be IT literate and confident with MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Benefits: £45-50k basic, excellent commission package (OTE £80-100k), company vehicle or car allowance (£500pm), 25 days' holiday + bank holiday, phone, laptop, remote working + other benefits.
