CYBERUK programme unveiled one month ahead of flagship conference

THE NATIONAL Cyber Security Centre has unveiled a wide-ranging programme for this year’s CYBERUK event a full month out from the opening of the flagship conference. Ransomware, future technologies, defending the UK at scale and building a diverse workforce are just some of the topics to be covered over the two-day conference in Wales.

The overall theme of CYBERUK 2022 builds on the Government’s National Cyber Strategy and will examine what it means to adopt a ‘whole of society’-style approach when it comes to cyber security.

The National Cyber Security Centre is hosting the flagship conference at the ICC Wales in Newport on 10-11 May. It will be the first in-person CYBERUK showpiece gathering since 2019’s event in Glasgow and will see over 1,500 attendees from industry, academia and Government brought together to engage in interactive workshops, witness exhibitions of emerging technology and listen to keynote speeches delivered by leading experts.

Support for the event comes from a range of industry organisations, among them lead sponsors AWS and BT.

The release of the programme of events follows in the wake of the National Cyber Security Centre revealing some of the headline speakers. The latter include two of US President Joe Biden’s key advisors on cyber security.

Among those delivering speeches will be Rob Joyce (director of cyber security at the US National Security Agency), Jen Easterly (director of the US Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency), Steve Barclay MP (Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster) and GCHQ director Sir Jeremy Fleming.

International perspectives

Lindy Cameron, CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre, observed: “This year’s CYBERUK promises to be a great occasion, with two days of thought-provoking discussion and insightful speakers. Our programme of content offers something for everyone in the cyber security community. Delegates will be able to hear about how other organisations have dealt with cyber incidents right through to the latest international perspectives on future technologies.”

Cameron added: “With just a month to go until the event opens, I would urge cyber security leaders and professionals to register and take advantage of the fantastic array of speakers and sessions we have on offer.”

Building on the success of last year’s virtual event, keynote speeches will also be streamed on the CYBERUK YouTube channel in order to maximise accessibility for all.

CYBERUK will be delivered by the National Cyber Security Centre and sponsors across four distinct streams of activity: resilience and tackling the threat, technology and the ecosystem, the local to global leadership and interactive workshops.
