Arevika Stepanian appointed non-executive director at Skills for Security

SKILLS FOR Security, the UK’s largest fire and security apprenticeship provider, has announced the appointment of Arevika Stepanian to the Board as non-executive director of corporate relations with immediate effect.

In the role, Stepanian – director of customer experience for the STM Group (UK) – will be working with channel partners and media affiliates alike to increase the support of – and sponsorship for – a robust skills pipeline for the UK’s electrotechnical sector with a particular focus on fire and security.

It’s vital that all companies are encouraged to support the goal of Skills for Security to provide a sustainable supply of skilled engineers across the sectors such that businesses can prosper and compete, not only here in the UK market, while also striving for world-class competency and quality.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Banks (chair of Skills for Security) explained: “We are very pleased to be welcoming Arevika to the Skills for Security Board. Arevika’s appointment will provide us with a brand new skill set and create opportunities for stakeholder participation with both media partners and corporate sponsorship alike.”

Stepanian is currently a Board director for equality, diversity and inclusion on behalf of ASIS International’s UK Chapter. The cohort here encompasses a global network of 34,000 active members.

Growth agenda

Stepanian’s employer the STM Group (UK) is a Top 30 Infologue security company with over 1,400 employees across the UK.

In addition, Stepanian is a member of The Security Commonwealth Group and the EDI Charter Working Group orchestrated by the Women in Rail and the Railway Industry Association and consisting of over 200 member organisations.

Commenting on her appointment by Skills for Security, Stepanian stated: “Skills for Security is a forward-thinking company and I’m hugely excited by the opportunity to work with the Board to drive the next stage of its growth agenda and build on the successes to date.”

Further, Stepanian observed: “I’m deeply passionate about the security industry, the importance of improving the skill sets involved and supporting the younger generations. I look forward to contributing my experience and knowledge to benefit Skills for Security and its partners.”
