CORPS SECURITY has been awarded a prestigious prize for its continued commitment to spreading the word about the Real Living Wage through client bids. At the recent Living Wage Champion Awards 2022, the business received the Recognised Service Provider Award in recognition of its leadership in advancing the Real Living Wage within the security industry and among its client network.
Established initially as the Corps of Commissionaires back in 1859, Corps Security has always been committed to providing the highest employment standards for its colleagues. As an accredited Recognised Service Provider, paying the Real Living Wage is fundamental to the business’ operations.
Additionally, as a certified Social Enterprise, Corps Security has committed to communicating to its customers and the wider network that paying the Real Living Wage is not only the right thing to do for the individual, but that there’s a business case to underpin this process as well.
The company actively encourages the adoption of the Living Wage Recognition Programme across its network of clients and suppliers by advising on strategy and promotion of the programme across the facilities management and service sectors. All prospective customers are offered Real Living Wage bids alongside market rate submittals, duly ensuring that the pathway towards the Real Living Wage is in place at the tender stage.
For its existing customer base, Corps Security actively encourages, advises and educates on developing an appropriate path for a business to become a dedicated Real Living Wage employer.
Staunch advocates
Corps Security’s CEO, Mike Bullock, explained: “We are staunch advocates of the Living Wage Foundation and its mission. With over 3,000 employees across a multitude of contracts in all areas of the country, it has been a mammoth challenge to reach the point at which we find ourselves today. I’m delighted that the efforts of the team have been recognised.”
Bullock added: “Corps Security’s target is to reach the all-important 100% milestone and ensure that every employee benefits from a Real Living Wage. Thanks to the team’s dedication to this target, most of our contracts and clients have committed to the pledge.”
Katherine Chapman, director of the Living Wage Foundation, responded: “Despite the continuing challenges of the past two years, the Real Living Wage movement has never been stronger. We’ve continued to grow, welcoming our 10,000th employer, and we happily recognise some of the outstanding leadership employers have shown.”
Chapman concluded: “The Living Wage Champion Awards 2022 are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the importance of a wage that covers the cost of living and the value this provides for workers and businesses, particularly so during the cost of living crisis. I warmly congratulate Corps Security on its deserved accolade.”
